We've already seen evidence confirming the existence of Android 4.3, and we now have our first shots that appear to show the OS running on an actual device. According to a member of the xda-developers forum, the phone above was spotted at the Thailand Mobile Expo currently taking place, with the about section of the OS and its familiar easter egg clearly indicating that it's Android 4.3 -- and still going by the Jelly Bean moniker. Of the three shots provided, the only one revealing any significant changes is the camera app, which sports some retooled controls that have been shifted to the side.

iTunes U makes it easy to download and subscribe to any courses you'd like. While not all courses come with assignments and material, some do. If you decide you'd like to complete assignments or want to download additional material, here's how to find out if any is available in iTunes U and download it directly to iBooks.

1. Launch the iTunes U app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap on the Catalog button in the upper right hand corner.
3. Search for or navigate to the course you'd like to download assignments or additional material for.
4. Just like actual classes are listed, any additional assignments or materials will be listed as well. You can see the different in the icons.
5. Just tap on the Download button in order to download a specific assignment or additional item.
6. Once downloaded, just tap on the Download button one more time and you'll be taken to Safari to view it. You'll have the option to save it directly to iBooks if you'd like. Just tap on the Open in iBooks option that appears across the top under the address bar.

That's all there is to it. Unfortunately there isn't a way to save assignments with courses within the iTunes U app but saving them to iBooks is a means to an end and the next best thing. After you've opened the assignments and/or course material within iBooks, it'll be saved there for as long as you like and until you'd like to delete it.

Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rocks up inside AnTuTu benchmark, runs Android 4.3 and 1.6GHz Exynos 5 chipset

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has appeared inside AnTuTu benchmark ahead of its official launch, which is believed to be taking place sometime in Q3.
The alleged Galaxy Note 3 device, referred to as GT–N7200 in the benchmark, is running Android 4.3 and Samsung’s Octa-core Exynos 5 chipset clocked at 1.6GHz – the exact same setup that’s found inside some (non-UK) Galaxy S4 handsets.

The Samsung Galaxy Note III scored lower than the Galaxy S4 in AnTuTu, but then it's not clear how close the software is to being finished (if it really uses a new Android version, probably not very close), reports GSM Arena.
The report added: ‘Also, Notes typically have overclocked chipsets compared to their Galaxy S counterparts, so we expect the finished product to be clocked higher than 1.6GHz.’

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is believed to feature a 5.9-inch 1080p display and a similar overall design and finish to the Galaxy S4. Android 4.3, as the benchmark suggests, is likely to be the OS of choice and we’ve also heard talk of up to 3GB of RAM.
In terms of pricing and availability, not much is known about the handset. The Galaxy Note 3 will of course be priced like a flagship although we don’t expect to see it launched at IFA 2013 – as previous Notes have been – given that Samsung is now such a big deal.
What’s more likely is that Samsung will create a unique launch event for the Note 3 just as it did for the Galaxy S4 – we might even see the company do a second world tour? When this event will take place, however, is anyone’s guess although we have heard several solid-ish rumours about a potential event in June.

samsung starts production of high performance SSDs

Samsung has started the production of a high-performance SSD for servers and data centers.

Samsung has announced that it has started supplying the SM843T SSD, which is an SSD intended to be used in data centers and servers. The SM843T will come in capacities up to 960 GB, and feature IOPS of up to 98,000 sustained random read IOPS. No word was given on sequential throughput. The SSDs run over a SATA3 interface, and they also feature up to 20,000 TBW (Terabyte Written) endurance, depending on the capacity. The SSDs feature read and write speeds of up to 520 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively.
"Samsung Green SSD products are widely acknowledged for their superior performance and quality design having contributed to data center system improvements and operational cost savings. In response to customer demand, we are accelerating the growth of the flash storage market with new SSD offerings this year like the SM843T, while reinforcing our competitive edge in next-generation SSD products and solutions," said Young-Hyun Jun, executive VP of memory sales & marketing at Samsung.
According to Samsung, the systems running with these SSDs will experience a multiple 6 performance gain, and save up to 30 percent more energy over traditional hard drives.
The drives will be available in capacities ranging from 120 GB to 960 GB, although there is no word on pricing or availability just yet.

nexus 7 successor to hit in july

One thing noticeably missing from Google I/O 2013 was any hardware news. Many people had anticipated that we’d see a new Nexus 7 tablet unveiled at this year’s event, especially when you consider that the original Nexus 7 was unveiled at Google I/O 2012. Sadly, however, Google kept quiet on its budget tablet offerings at this year’s event, which as you can expect, only caused more speculation as to what the company has planned for later on this year. It seems quite obvious that Google will release a successor to the Nexus 7 considering how popular it was, so the real question surrounding it is when it will be released.
DigiTimes, who has been hit and miss in the past with reports, claims that a new Nexus 7 tablet will be released sometime this July. This falls in line with what other sources have been saying. The web site’s source is Elan Microelectronics, a Taiwanese supplier of integrated circuitry for touch screen devices. The company claims to have already begun shipping touchscreen controllers for the production of the upcoming Nexus 7 successor.
Because of the orders coming in for the new Nexus 7, Elan Microelectronics is expected to tout increased revenues in May and June, which can lead you to infer that the device will begin manufacturing during those months. That timetable does go along with everything else we’ve heard about a July launch of the device.

Specs for the new Nexus 7 remain a mystery, but recently we have had some reports of what we may see. The tablet will supposedly launch with a new version of Android 4.3. Specifications of the device may include a Snapdragon 600 processor and 1920 by 1200 display, while pricing will remain the same $199, according to industry analysts.

Even though this report is coming from the infamous DigiTimes, I think it’s safe to say that if you are looking to buy a Nexus 7, then it is probably best to hold off until July to see what Google has planned.
